We have changed our company name from Uzushio Electric Co., Ltd. to BEMAC Corporation.

BEMAC was founded in 1946 to pursue business operations in the area of charging and selling of storage batteries for fishing vessels. Currently, BEMAC serves as a large-vessel electrical equipment manufacturer, handling everything from design through to manufacturing, installation and maintenance for power distribution systems, control equipment and all other types shipboard electrical equipment and systems. The Company also utilizes technologies cultivated through marine operations in onshore business activities as well, expanding its endeavors into the areas of industrial plants and electric vehicles (EVs).

The name BEMAC, now adopted as the new company name, has been in use for more than 15 years as an Uzushio Electric corporate brand name, established in 2002 in order to promote the Group’s technologies, products and services under a single brand. The word Uzushio (oo-zoo-she-oh) is often challenging for people in the English-speaking world to pronounce, which made it difficult for people to remember the company name when representatives visited overseas firms. Establishing BEMAC as the new name eliminates this problem and strengthens the Company’s presence both within Japan and abroad. Furthermore, the disparity between the former company name and corporate brand name made for challenges during overseas biddings, hurt brand awareness and created various other problems.

With the unification of the company and brand name under BEMAC, the Company can further boost brand value as a whole.
